Who Is The Current Speaker Of Cross River State House Of Assembly?
The current Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly is Elvert Ayambema, who represents the Ikom Two constituency.
Ayambema, now in his second term as a legislator, was elected unopposed. Initially, there were expectations that Hilary Bisong, a three-time member representing Boki Two, would become the speaker.
However, the tables turned in favor of Ayambema. In his inaugural address, Ayambema expressed gratitude for being entrusted with leading the 10th assembly.
He pledged to ensure fair representation for the people and emphasized the need for effective collaboration between the legislative, executive, and judiciary branches to deliver democratic dividends.
Ayambema stressed the importance of prioritizing the development of Cross River State, setting aside political differences to address societal challenges such as hunger, insecurity, and unemployment.
He underscored the importance of strengthening existing institutions rather than creating new ones, particularly in education and healthcare, to improve the state’s socio-economic landscape.

Who Is The Current Deputy Speaker Of Cross River State House Of Assembly?
Honourable Sylvester Agabi is currently the Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State 10th House of Assembly. His appointment came after the 10th House of Assembly in Cross River State was inaugurated.
Other principal officers were elected along with him, forming a diverse leadership team. Honorable Bassey Asuquo, representing the Odukpani State constituency and of the APC, holds the position of Majority Leader.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Majority Leader is Rt. Honourable Davies Etta from Abi state constituency, also of the APC. Further, the House appointed Chief Whip Rt. Hon. Hillary Bisong from Boki 2 State constituency, a member of the APC.
Serving with him is the Deputy Chief Whip, Rt. Honorable Ovat Agbor, representing Obubra 1 state constituency, also of the APC.
In terms of minority leadership, Hon. Abang Neji from Ikom 1 state constituency, representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is the Minority Leader.
