Who Was The First Governor Of Yobe State?
The first governor of Yobe State, Nigeria, was Bukar Abba Ibrahim. He was born on December 24, 1950. Bukar Ibrahim’s political career started in the early 1990s.
Yobe State was created on August 27, 1991, from Borno State, and he became its first civilian governor.
His first term began on January 2, 1992, after he was elected under the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
However, his term was cut short by a military coup in November 1993, which ended elected governments across Nigeria.
After the military rule, Nigeria returned to civilian leadership, and Bukar Ibrahim re-entered politics.
In 1999, he ran for governor again, this time under the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).
He served as governor from May 29, 1999, to May 29, 2007. During his time in office, he worked on improving education and healthcare and helped establish Sharia law in Yobe State in 2000.
After his governorship, Bukar Ibrahim was elected to the Nigerian Senate, representing Yobe East.
He served in the Senate until 2011 and later won re-election.

Who Is The Current Governor Of Yobe State?
Mai Mala Buni is currently the Governor of Yobe State, Nigeria, having begun his term on May 29, 2019.
Mai Mala Buni is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has been a major figure in Nigerian politics, especially in his home state.
However, Mai Mala Buni was born on November 19, 1967, in Buni Yadi, Gujba Local Government Area.
He went to Buni-Gari Central Primary School and Government Secondary School in Goniri for his early education.
Later, he earned a Bachelor of Science in International Relations from Espan Formation University in Benin in 2014.
He continued his studies and received a Master of Arts in International Relations from Leeds Beckett University in the United Kingdom.
Buni began his political journey in 1992 when he was elected as a councilor under the National Republican Convention (NRC).
He also served as the Speaker of the Gujba Local Government Legislative Council.
And, he has different roles, including the chairman of the Action Congress party in Yobe State and later the APC’s state chairman.
His influence grew when he became the National Secretary of the APC, helping the party win in the 2015 elections.

Who Is The Current Deputy Yobe State Governor?
The current Deputy Governor of Yobe State, Nigeria, is Idi Barde Gubana. He has been serving in this role since May 2019, working alongside Governor Mai Mala Buni.
Gubana was born on April 24, 1960, in Karai-Karai village, which is in the Fune Local Government Area.
He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party and holds the traditional title of Waziri (Vizier) of the Fune Emirate.
Gubana started his education at Daura Primary School, and he finished his primary education in 1976.
He then went to Borno Teachers College from 1973 to 1979, where he got his West African Examinations Council certificate.
He continued his studies with a Higher National Diploma (HND) in social sciences from the School of Social Conversation in Jos in 1989.
Then, he studied at the University of Maiduguri and got a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration.
He also earned a master’s degree from Borno State University in 2000.
Gubana began his political career in 1997 when he was elected as the Executive Chairman of Fune Local Government under the United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP).
He has also worked as a Special Assistant to Governor Bukar Abba Ibrahim and worked as a commissioner in different ministries.
