How Many Members Are In Plateau State House Of Assembly?
The Plateau State House of Assembly, serving as the legislative arm of the government of Plateau State in Nigeria, is composed of 24 members.
This assembly functions as an integral part of the state’s governance structure, responsible for legislating new laws, modifying or revoking existing ones, and overseeing the activities of the executive branch.
The composition of the Plateau State House of Assembly mirrors the diversity and needs of the state’s population. Although there are 17 local government areas in the state, the assembly comprises 24 members elected from these areas.
However, local government areas with larger populations are divided into two constituencies, effectively increasing the number of legislators to 25.
These legislators, referred to as Members of the State House of Assembly, are elected for a four-year term, aligning with the tenure of federal legislators in the Senate and House of Representatives.
The assembly meets regularly three times a week, convening on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, in the assembly complex located in the state capital, Jos.

Who Is The Current Speaker House Of Assembly In Plateau State And His Deputy?
The current Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly is Gabriel Dawang, representing the Pankshin North constituency, having assumed this role following the resignation of Moses Thomas Sule.
Dawang’s deputy is Hon Timothy Dantong, who represents the Riyom constituency. The change in leadership occurred after Sule and his deputy, Hon Gwottaon, stepped down from their positions. Sule, who previously represented the Mikang state constituency, resigned alongside Gwottaon.
In the wake of Sule’s resignation, Hon Dewan K. Gabriel, a member representing Pankshin North state constituency and affiliated with the Young Progressives Party (YPP), emerged as the new Speaker of the 10th Assembly.
Meanwhile, Timothy Dantong, representing the Riyom constituency, was elected as the deputy speaker. This change in leadership comes amidst legal proceedings, as the National and State Houses of Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal in Jos nullified Moses Sule’s election as the representative for the Mikang state constituency.
Consequently, Sule’s certificate of return was withdrawn, and it was subsequently issued to the All Progressives Congress candidate, Daniel Nanlong, who secured the second-highest number of votes during the election.
