The Kwara State House of Assembly consists of 24 elected members representing the various constituencies of the state’s 16 local government areas.
Kwara State House of Assembly serves as the legislative body for Kwara State in Nigeria. These members are elected from the 16 local government areas within the state.

Who Is The Current Speaker Of The Kwara State House Of Assembly?
The current Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly is RT. Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu. Born on May 31, 1985, in Gwanara town, Baruten LGA of Kwara State, he hails from the family of the late Alh. Salihu Aliyu, known as The Tafarkin Borgu.
His early education commenced at Baruten Local Government Education Authority School, Gwanara, where he obtained his first school leaving certificate in 1993.
He continued his secondary education at Baptist Grammar School, Okuta, and St. Anthony Secondary School, Ilorin, passing his Senior School exams with flying colors in 2001. Yakubu’s academic journey led him to Kaduna Polytechnic, where he pursued Electrical Engineering.
Graduating with an Upper Credit Diploma in 2006, he furthered his studies, obtaining a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with an Upper Credit class in 2008.
After completing the mandatory National Youth Service Corps at the National Water Resources Institute, Kaduna, from 2009 to 2010, he worked at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, from 2010 to 2018.
During this time, he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with a Second Class Upper Division in 2016.
Yakubu’s political career began during his university days, where he served in various capacities within student unions.
He coordinated the Youth wing of the Buhari Campaign organization under the Congress for Progress Change (CPC) in 2011 and later became the Youth Coordinator of PDP, Kwara North Senatorial District.
His dedication and leadership qualities earned him admiration and support from his constituency, leading to his election as the youngest APC State House of Assembly candidate in Kwara.
He emerged victorious in both the party primaries and the 2019 general elections, becoming the Speaker of the 9th Assembly.
As Speaker, Yakubu prioritized meeting the needs of his constituents, focusing on infrastructure development, education, and social welfare.
His achievements include road rehabilitation, sinking over 100 boreholes for clean water supply, provision of solar-powered streetlights, and construction of classrooms.
In all, his dedication to serving his people led to his reelection for a second term and subsequent emergence as the Speaker of the 10th Assembly.
Who Is The Current Deputy Speaker Of The Kwara State House Of Assembly?
Hon. Ojo Olayiwola Oyebode is the current Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly. He was born on April 4, 1975, in Ipee, Kwara State, to Mr. & Mrs. James Ibitoye Ojo.
Hon. Ojo attended Baptist Local Government Education Authority School for his primary education and Jama’at Nasir Islam School, Owu-Isin, for secondary education.
Then he pursued Accountancy at Federal Polytechnic, Offa, graduating with a National Diploma in 2005. With a passion for service, Hon. Ojo moved into politics, winning the Ipee Ward Councillorship in Oyun Local Government from 2007 to 2010.
He later served as Vice-Chairman of Oyun Local Government. In the 2019 general elections, he triumphed as the representative for Oke-Ogun State Constituency under the APC, securing a second term in 2023.
Hon. Ojo chaired the House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources, earning respect from colleagues, and In acknowledgment of his dedication, he was elected Deputy Speaker of the 10th Legislature in Kwara State. Aside from politics, Hon. Ojo is a devoted Christian.
