Who Was The First Governor Of Katsina State?
Katsina State was created in 1987 when it was split from Kaduna State, and the first governor of this newly formed Katsina State was Abdullahi Sarki Mukhtar. He began his role as governor in September 1987.
Mukhtar’s time in office was short, as he served until July 1988. After him, Lawrence Onoja took over as governor from July 1988 to December 1989. John Madaki then became the third governor and led the state from December 1989 until January 1992.
The early years of Katsina State saw a lot of leadership changes. There were four different governors within the first five years of the state’s existence.

Who Is The Current Governor Of Katsina State?
The current Governor of Katsina State is Dikko Umar Radda, who took office on May 29, 2023. Radda is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and he succeeded Aminu Bello Masari, who was governor from 2015 to 2023.
Radda is the first person with a Ph.D. to become governor of Katsina State. Born on September 10, 1969, in Hayin Gada Town, which is in the Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State, Radda’s education journey began at Radda Primary School.
He then went to Zaria Teachers College and Kafanchan College of Education and received his National Certificate in Education (NCE).
After that, he attended Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University and earned a Bachelor of Technology in Agricultural Economics and Extension.
Radda also went on to get two master’s degrees, one in Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology and another in International Affairs and Diplomacy.
He completed his educational journey by earning a Ph.D. in Agriculture and Rural Sociology in 2015. Radda’s political career started when the APC was formed in 2013.
He served as the APC National Welfare Secretary, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Katsina State, and the Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) in 2016.
Radda is focused on improving human capital development and enhancing security in Katsina State. He is working to address security challenges, such as banditry, and to improve conditions in educational institutions.
His administration aims to boost the state’s economy and tackle issues that affect its people. With his background in agriculture and rural sociology, Radda is well-positioned to address problems related to food security and rural development in Katsina State, which is known for its agricultural activities.

Who Is The Current Deputy Governor Of Katsina State?
Faruk Jobe is the current Deputy Governor of Katsina State, taking office in 2023, working alongside Governor Dikko Umar Radda. Both Jobe and Radda are from the All Progressives Congress (APC) party.
Faruk Jobe was born in 1966 In Katsina State. He has held several roles in the state government, serving as the Secretary to the State Government under former Governor Aminu Bello Masari.
This role gave him a lot of experience in how the state government operates and allowed him to work closely with many different people. In the 2023 elections, Faruk Jobe was chosen as the Deputy Governor.
