How Many Members Are In The Oyo State House Of Assembly?

The Oyo State House of Assembly consists of 32 members elected from the 32 local government areas of the state. The people in their respective constituencies choose these members to represent their interests and make decisions on their behalf.

One of the primary functions of the Oyo State House of Assembly is to create new laws, revise existing ones, or abolish outdated regulations.

Also, it plays an important part in overseeing the actions of the executive branch of the state government. Through various committees and legislative processes, members of the Assembly confirm that the government operates by the law and in the best interests of the citizens.

Members of the Assembly are elected for a term of four years, which aligns with the terms of federal legislators and the governor of the state.

This concurrent timing allows for coordinated governance at both state and federal levels. The Assembly calls for sessions three times a week, specifically on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

These sessions take place in the assembly complex located in the state capital, Ibadan. During these meetings, members discuss and deliberate on various issues affecting the state, propose and debate legislation, and hold the executive accountable for its actions.
