How Many Members Are In The Anambra State House Of Assembly?

The Anambra State House of Assembly is made up of 30 members. These members are elected to represent the 30 constituencies within the state. Each constituency corresponds to one of the 21 local government areas of Anambra State.

Anambra State is divided into three senatorial zones: Anambra Central, Anambra North, and Anambra South. Each senatorial zone comprises 10 constituencies, making a total of 30 constituencies across the state.

Who Is The Current Speaker Of The Anambra State House Of Assembly?

Somtochukwu Udeze

The current Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly is Somtochukwu Udeze. He assumed office in 2023, succeeding Rt. Hon. Uchenna Okafor.

Born on October 6, 1972, in Atani, Anambra State, Nigeria, Udeze is a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). He holds degrees in Crop Production Technology, Management, and an MBA from various Nigerian institutions.

Udeze has been in politics, winning elections in 2015, 2019, and 2023 to represent the Ogbaru II constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly.

Notably, he served as the Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture in the Assembly. Udeze was elected as Speaker on June 12, 2023, by the members of the eighth Anambra State House of Assembly. As Speaker, he holds an influential position in shaping legislative affairs and policies within the state.

With his background in law and extensive political experience, Udeze plays a key part in governing and representing the interests of the people of Anambra State at the legislative level.

The current Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly is Honourable Chukwuma Okoye. He is a dedicated Nigerian politician serving at the State House of Assembly level. Currently, Okoye Chukwuma represents the Awka South II constituency at the State Legislature.
