The decision to impeach Alhaji Kabiru Ibrahim was made during a plenary session where Speaker Alhaji Salihu Maidaji announced that 21 members had passed a vote of no confidence in him.

Alhaji Kabiru Ibrahim was accused of breaching constitutional guidelines by engaging in political activities before the 2019 General Elections, which included mobilizing support for a governorship aspirant, contrary to the regulations of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
