Who Was The First Governor Of Nasarawa State?
The first governor of Nasarawa State was Dr. Abdullahi Adamu. He was the first democratically elected governor and took office on May 29, 1999. Dr. Adamu served as governor until May 29, 2007, and he was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Before Dr. Adamu became governor, Nasarawa State was led by two military administrators. The first was Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim, who served from October 7, 1996, to August 6, 1998.
After him, Lt. Col. Bala Muhammed Mande took over and served from August 6, 1998, to May 29, 1999. During his time as governor, Dr. Abdullahi Adamu made some notable contributions to education in the state.
One of his major achievements was establishing Nasarawa State University in Keffi in 2002. The university was created to provide higher education opportunities for the people of Nasarawa State, and the goal was to help students gain the knowledge and skills needed to develop the state and Nigeria as a whole.
Governor Adamu also worked to improve education in the state. He noticed that there were not enough educated people in Nasarawa State to help the state grow. To solve this problem, he set up a Technical Advisory Committee.
This committee was made up of education experts who advised the government on how to establish the state university. After serving two terms as governor, Dr. Adamu was succeeded by Dr. Aliyu Akwe Doma of the PDP, who was governor from May 29, 2007, to May 29, 2011.
Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, who belonged to the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and later the All Progressives Congress (APC), then served as governor from May 2011 to May 2019.

Who Is The Current Governor Of Nasarawa State?
Engineer Abdullahi Sule is the current Governor of Nasarawa State, Nigeria, and he has been in office since May 29, 2019, after winning the gubernatorial election that took place on March 9, 2019.
Sule is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In the 2023 elections, he was re-elected for a second term. Abdullahi Sule was born on December 26, 1959, in Gudi Station, which is in the Akwanga-West Development Area of Nasarawa State.
He started his education at the Roman Catholic Mission Primary School in his hometown. Then, he attended Zang Secondary School and then moved on to Government Technical College in Bukuru.
For his higher education, Sule traveled to the United States, and he attended Indiana State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Technology and later a Master’s degree in Industrial Technology.
Sule began his professional career in Nigeria as a youth corps member with the Plateau Utilities Board. He also worked as a Production Engineer at the Jos Steel Rolling Mill.
In 1989, he returned to the U.S. and gained experience in various engineering roles in different companies. In 2000, he co-founded Sadiq Petroleum Nigeria Limited and later became the Managing Director of African Petroleum Plc.
Sule was also the Group Managing Director of Dangote Sugar Refinery. However, his political career began when he won the APC gubernatorial primaries on October 1, 2018. After his election victory, he was sworn in as governor.

Who Is The Current Deputy Governor Of Nasarawa State?
Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe is the current Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Nigeria. He was born on November 29, 1960, in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Dr. Akabe started his education at St. Mikel Primary School in Akwanga and then went to St. Joseph’s College in Vom, Plateau State. He studied medicine at the University of Jos and graduated in 1984.
After finishing his studies, Dr. Akabe completed his housemanship at Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) in 1985. He then served his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at a military hospital in Enugu State.
Then he became a specialist in eye care, known as ophthalmology, after undergoing residency training at JUTH. In 1992, he became a consultant and received a fellowship from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria.
He also received advanced training in cataract surgery and medical retina in India. Dr. Akabe has worked as a lecturer at the University of Jos and led the Ophthalmology Department at JUTH.
Also served as the head of the Ophthalmology Department at the National Hospital in Abuja. In addition to his medical work, he played a notable role in improving healthcare in Nasarawa State when he was appointed as the Commissioner for Health.
He helped build new hospitals and worked on improving healthcare services across the state. On May 29, 2019, Dr. Akabe was sworn in as the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, under Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration. Dr. Akabe is married and has three children.
