Who Is The Current Minister Of State (Gas) Petroleum Resources In Nigeria?
The current Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas) in Nigeria is Honorable Ekperikpe Ekpo. He was appointed to this position by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on August 21, 2023.
Ekpo is responsible for overseeing Nigeria’s gas sector, which is important for the country’s energy needs and economic development.
Honorable Ekperikpe Ekpo was born and raised in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Ekpo pursued higher education and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a focus on Ecology.
He also holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Pollution and Toxicology. This educational background has given him a strong understanding of environmental issues and energy management.
However, Ekpo’s political career began at the local level. He served as the Chairman of the Ika Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State.
During his tenure, he achieved notable milestones, including completing a long-abandoned Federal Government Electrification project.
This project connected the local government area to the national grid for the first time, greatly benefiting the community.
In 2007, Ekpo was elected to the Nigerian House of Representatives, representing the Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika federal constituency.
